About this site
"We cannot perceive beauty through the senses without its awakening other harmonies within us, which are part of the Divine harmony outside of us."
—Virginia Woolf, "Art and Life"
The Journal is the main publication of the John Edward Roach Literary Society, put together by a handful of students and alumni at the University of Delaware. The publication focuses on a range of subjects, including cultural criticism, math & science, history, art, literature, and philosophy.
We are open to contributions from students of both UD and other institutions. Nonfiction, fiction, poetry, and art are all accepted. Please email an editor below for more information.

About the Society
The J.E.R. Literary Society is a network of writers, thinkers, and artists at the University of Delaware. As an unregistered student organization, the Society intends to reinvigorate the University's literary culture by providing a space for student work, beyond the classroom.
The Society is named after John Edward Roach, a Delaware College student who died on the steps of Old College Hall in 1858. You can read more about his story here.
The words and opinions of the Society do not represent those of the University of Delaware, only its students.
