It was the end of the age of paper—or was it only the beginning?
As far as your eyes can see, you're floating in a void of white. No, not white, more like the aged cream of parchment paper. You stretch out your arm in front of you, but it seems invisible to your eye. Touching the smooth skin of your face, you notice something in the distance: a speck of black. Moving towards you, it starts to grow in length and occasionally glint in gold. After a few moments, it reaches you, and you grab it out of the air with your hand: a capped pen, with a shiny gold clip.
